Micro Pollution is Dangerous

84% of the Nigerian population have a cell phone yet only 23.6% of these can chagre their phones using a clean source of energy. About 84% of Nigerians who own phones also own rechargeable lamps, power banks and other battery-powered mobile devices which they also charge by carbon emiiting power sources.

.

Because battery-powered devices have become the main drivers of our lives, it gave rise to public charging businesses that adopt the use of alternative power sources to charge mobile phones for customers. These alternative power sources used by these conventional phone charging businesses are characterized by environmental pollution, noise generation and emission of gases which contributes to global warming.

We are solving the problem of the use of alternative power sources that pollute our environment especially the use of conventional phone charging businesses by creating the solar-powered powerpack and booths.

Social and Environmental Impact

Through our activities at Solaris, we want to achieve the following social and environmental impact:

Creation of wealth through increased economic activities

Creation of new jobs for young people

Reduction of poverty through increased economic activities

Reduction in carbon emission; one of our solar-powered booths saves 88,000 tons of carbon Co2 emission per year and with 10 of our booths, we can save up to 1,320,000 tons of Co2 emissions per year

Reduction in environmental pollution and global warming because we don’t burn fossil fuel, our energy source is clean and renewable

Sustaining already existing jobs; findings from our research shows that most young persons work remotely either with their phones or laptops and they are often faced with the challenge of power supply to charge their devices in order to work. Our business provides solutions to this power issue and during our customer discovery, 70% of our respondents agreed to pay for our solution

Combating energy poverty in rural communitiesn by deploying our solar-powered booths and other solar solutions in rural areas and using our booths as outlets to market and sell solar products
